The Police Regional Office 9 has deployed 821 police personnel to support security operations for the upcoming Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, or BARMM, Parliamentary Election.
Police Brigadier General Elmer E. Ragay, PRO 9 Regional Director, led the send-off ceremony on September 7 at Camp Col. Romeo A. Abendan in Mercedes, Zamboanga City.
The deployed personnel include security forces and members of Special Electoral Boards who will be assigned to strategic areas in Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and Tawi-Tawi.
PRO 9 will also deploy Area Supervisors to monitor security operations, oversee personnel deployment, and ensure immediate coordination and response to emerging concerns during the election period.
Police authorities said they will intensify police visibility, focused crime prevention, and intelligence-driven operations, particularly against theft, physical injury, robbery, and carnapping.
PBGen Ragay said PRO 9 is ready to secure the election and ensure a peaceful, orderly, and credible electoral process.
The police regional office also stressed that election security requires close coordination with the Commission on Elections, other government agencies, and stakeholders.
PRO 9 said its personnel will remain professional, impartial, and responsive in carrying out their mandate to protect voters, election personnel, and the electoral process.
