THE 3rd intra-barangay pancit cooking contest was held this morning (July 2, 2026) at the barangay plaza with sitio Mulmac emerging as champion.
According to barangay chairman Engr. Saniel Raypon, pancit is such a delicacy in Macabalan because it is home to two pancit factories in the city.
The contest – as well as the other competitions – are all participated by the nine sitios in Macabalan who are greatly appreciative of Raypon’s leadership.
They are sitios Mulmac, Piaping Puti, Piaping Itum, Parola, Barra, Punta, NHA, Cilrai and Accretion.
The pancit’s unique flavors, perfect noodle texture and masterful presentation truly stood out to win the hearts (and stomachs!) of the judges.
Other activities in the weeklong celebration include a civic parade, interfaith worship, walkathon, zumba dance contest, boxing, karatedo tournament, catch a pig (larong Pinoy), Bongga Ka ‘Nay!, Sangguniang Kabataan night, basketball tournament championship, teachers night and night cafe.
Since assuming office in 2023, Raypon’s style centers on hands-on comunity management and close coordination with the city government, the national government and private partners. He is often described as a pragmatic, operations-oriented barangay chairman.
