THE Local Council for the Protection of Children of Opol under Mayor Jayfrancis Bago in Misamis Oriental was among one of those recognized by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) for having achieved ideal functionality rating during the recent functionality assessment.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Region 10 proudly announces the results of the 2026 Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) Functionality Assessment, highlighting the region’s strengthened commitment to upholding and promoting children’s rights and welfare.

Out of the 98 Local Government Units (LGUs) assessed by the various Inter-Agency Monitoring Task Forces (IMTFs) across Region 10, 74 or 75% garnered the highest functionality rating—an 8.7% increase from the previous assessment year.

The assessment covered four key areas: (1) Organizational Sustainability, (2) Policies and Plans for Children, (3) Budget Allocation for the LCPC, and (4) Service Delivery, Monitoring, and Management for Children.

The results underscore the proactive initiatives of LGUs in institutionalizing child protection programs and mainstreaming child rights-based governance in local planning and development processes.

DILG Region 10 commends the unwavering support and dedication of local chief executives, LCPC members, and partner agencies in fostering safer, more inclusive, and nurturing communities for every child.
