THE Scholars Cup, the annual sports festival among city scholars, was successfully concluded on May 27–28 at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines Gymnasium in the city.
Cluster G Green Werewolves emerged as the overall champion of the competition, while Cluster F Yellow Falcons placed first runner-up and Cluster E Blue Ravens finished as second runner-up.
The events included a Cheerdance competition, E-games such as Call of Duty and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, traditional Filipino games (Larong Pinoy), ball games such as volleyball and basketball, and mind games including chess, scrabble, trivia, and spelling bee.
Aside from the games, the first-ever Mr. and Ms. Scholars Cup pageant among city scholars was also held wherein Faith Linan emerged as Miss City Scholars Cup 2026.
The talents of the city scholars were likewise highlighted through a talent expo.
The Scholars Cup is an initiative of the City Education and Development Office under the leadership of CEDO Department Manager Richel Petalcurin-Dahay, with the goal of developing the character of every city scholar in the city through sports.
This year marked the third edition of the Scholars Cup, participated in by seven clusters composed of city scholars from various schools and barangays. (Nica Borja/CIO)
