The Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental, in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhilFIDA), launched the Abaca Mechanization Shared Service Facility (SSF) Project on October 21, 2025. The project aims to improve the productivity and income of abaca farmers in the province.

The project includes the provision of machinery and equipment worth ₱9.5 million, which includes 45 Modified Portable Single-Spindle Stripping Machines, 32 Tuxying Machines, 1 Baling Machine, and 1 Dry Fiber Brushing Machine. These equipment will benefit 24 associations of abaca farmers in the first district of Misamis Oriental.
The project is a result of the partnership between the DTI, PhilFIDA, and the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental, with Governor Juliette T. Uy as the main cooperator. The government is committed to supporting the development of the abaca industry, which is a major source of livelihood for many farmers in the province.

The DTI will provide training to the beneficiaries to optimize the use of the machinery and equipment. The training will cover the proper use and maintenance of the equipment, as well as the production of high-quality abaca fibers.
The Abaca Mechanization Shared Service Facility Project is expected to boost the abaca industry in Misamis Oriental, increasing the productivity and income of abaca farmers. The project is a testament to the government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and improving the lives of farmers.
