Malacañang announced on Friday that it will not prevent the public, particularly supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte, from expressing their sentiments regarding his ongoing legal battle before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

This statement comes as Duterte faces charges at the ICC related to alleged crimes against humanity during his presidency. The Philippine government has maintained that it will cooperate with the ICC while also asserting its sovereignty.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin previously stated that the Philippines will respond “favorably” if the Interpol acts on the ICC probe, highlighting the country’s obligation to honor its membership with the Interpol.

Duterte’s supporters have been vocal about their opposition to the ICC’s investigation, with some claiming that the former president is being unfairly targeted. Malacañang’s statement suggests that the government will allow the public to express their opinions on the matter without interference.
