MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Malacañang has refuted circulating reports that First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos was detained by law enforcement authorities in the United States. Palace Press Officer and Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro addressed the issue on Thursday, March 13, 2025, categorically denying the allegations and assuring the public that the claims are baseless.
According to Castro, there is no factual basis for the reports, calling them misleading and urging the public to rely on verified information from official sources. The statement comes amid online speculation and unverified news suggesting that the First Lady had been taken into custody while in the U.S.
Malacañang officials emphasized their commitment to transparency and warned against the spread of misinformation that could mislead the public. They encouraged Filipinos to verify news before sharing it, particularly on social media platforms where false information can quickly gain traction.
As of now, there has been no official statement from the U.S. government or law enforcement agencies confirming any such incident. The Palace reassured the public that the First Lady continues to fulfill her duties without any legal concerns abroad.
