CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City: Unidentified gunmen shot dead an election officer in Miagao, Salvador, Lanao del Norte, the police reported Wednesday.
A police report reaching the regional police command here identified the victim as Mark Orlando Q. Vallecer II, Acting Election Officer of Nunungan, Lanao del Norte.
The police report from the Lanao del Norte police command said that Vallecer attended a meeting presided by Lanao Del Norte Election Provincial Election Officer Joseph Hamilton Cuevas in the municipal town of Salvador, Lanao de del Norte Tuesday.
Vallecer was on his way home after attending the meeting when waylaid by the riding tandem suspects in the village of Curva, Miagao, Salvador, Lanao del Norte Tuesday afternoon.
Vallecer, the first election official shot dead in the pre election period this year, sustained multiple gunshots on his body.

Hospital in Maranding, Lala, Lanao del Norte declared Vallecer dead on arrival.
Police has issued a dragnet around the province of Lanao del Norte and a flash alarm sent to neighboring towns and cities in a bid to arrest and identify the suspects who remained at large.
