MISAMIS ORIENTAL – The Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental culminated the celebration for people with disabilities with the theme “Celebrating Abilities and Advocating Access” held at the Provincial Capitol Grounds of Misamis Oriental on September 18, 2024.

Governor Peter “Sr. Pedro” M Unabia fully supported the culmination and prepared a raffle of so many items and also gave appliances to the winners of major prizes.

In his speech on behalf of Governor Unabia, Board member Wayne Militante emphasized the continued support of the provincial government in terms of livelihood and the full implementation of the accessibility law.

He said the access law is very important to Governor Unabia. In fact, this year the validators for the SGLG were very impressed on how the province fully implemented the said law for the benefits not only of the PWDs but also to the senior citizens who also need ramps, and all other accessibility in buildings and comfort rooms.

“This special activity for the disabled persons is a great reminder to all government officials and employees in both government and private sectors that the PWDs also have their own rights that need to be respected,” Militante said in vernacular.

Zosimo G. Butil, Chief of Protective Services Division, DSWD Field Office X also added that protection of the persons with disabilities is embodied in a lot of government laws. These laws must be followed by everyone to protect the rights of PWDs.

“Ang bawat isa ay mahalaga. Walang dapat maiwan,” was the challenging message of Mr Butil to government leaders purposely to empower PWDs in all livelihood and other opportunities.

Top government officials and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod also joined the celebration. They were Board Members, Dexter Yasay. Syremae  “Saysay” Emano. ###
