Camiguin’s Lady Lion Rider’s Club Plants Roots for a Greener Future

CAMIGUIN – In a strong show of environmental dedication, the Lady Lion Rider’s Club (LLRC) Camiguin Chapter marked its 4th Founding Anniversary hosted a special tree-planting event. The theme of the event was “Celebrating with Nature,” and it was organized in partnership with the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (PENR) – Camiguin.

Approximately fifty trees were planted during the event in Sitio Itum, Baylao, Mambajao. Key trees for preserving regional ecosystems were planted, including 30 Bayok-Bayokan trees, 10 Dao trees, and 10 Nato trees. Approximately thirty volunteer riders from different SEC clubs on the island participated in the event. Those that took part were the Camiguin Peace Riders Club, under the direction of Mr. Bernan Y. Tabamo; the Golden Sniper 150i/155i (GSi) – Camiguin Chapter, under the leadership of Mr. Reymar E. Balacuit; the Camiguin Peace Riders Club, headed by Mr. Bernan Y. Tabamo; and the XRM Bikers Club (XBC) Philippines – Camiguin Chapter, under Mr. Samuel Vincent C. Borres.

Ms. Rosgen Agnes Dablo-Borres, the President of the LLRC-Camiguin Chapter, emphasized the significance of the event. “This tree-planting activity is more than just a celebration; it’s a message and a challenge to other organized groups on the island to include environmental protection in their activities. Our actions today will benefit not only us but also future generations.”

The involvement of various local riders’ clubs highlights a growing collective commitment to environmental stewardship in Camiguin. Volunteers came together to contribute to the island’s green spaces, showcasing a united effort to make a positive impact.

Participant Ms. Mira Sabinay reflected on her experience, sharing, “The event was emotional, fun, and unforgettable. I feel proud to have planted trees that will help future generations. It’s a meaningful way to contribute to our environment.”

Dablo-Borres concluded with a call to action for all nature enthusiasts: “We need to do more than just appreciate nature; we must also work to protect it. I hope this event inspires more people to get involved in preserving our environment. By taking these steps, we ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of nature.”

In addition to commemorating the club’s anniversary, the LLRC’s tree-planting event demonstrated the locals’ dedication to protecting Camiguin’s natural beauty. This program acts as a reminder of the beneficial effects that group actions can have on protecting the environment. (JME/OB)
