SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur–A total of 8,888 tricycle drivers and operators across the Caraga region simultaneously received P5,000 each in cash relief assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga on Wednesday.
The initiative, implemented under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., is part of the government’s immediate response to help sectors most affected by the recent surge in petroleum prices.
The relief payouts were conducted in all major cities in the region. In Cabadbaran City, 1,591 beneficiaries received a total of Php 7,955,000, while Butuan City served 1,640 members with Php 8,200,000 disbursed. Bayugan City provided Php 3,810,000 to 762 recipients, and Surigao City assisted 1,804 drivers with Php 9,020,000. In Bislig City, 1,846 members received Php 9,230,000, and Tandag City completed the regional rollout by distributing Php 6,225,000 to 1,245 beneficiaries.
DSWD Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga expressed her gratitude to the Local Government Units (LGUs) for their continued cooperation, noting that their support was instrumental in the success of the program.
She also reiterated the DSWD Field Office Caraga’s commitment to serving the public and implementing programs that enhance the welfare and resilience of vulnerable sectors, particularly those affected by the rise in fuel prices.
