The “Bigasan sa Puntod” sponsored by the Zonta Club of Cagayan de Oro 1 started last March 2023 as an entrepreneurship project for the women’s group of barangay Puntod, Cagayan de Oro City.
To date, the project has grown and its profit is distributed among the members of the group. This has helped the marginalized women in the barangay augment their livelihood and honed their skills in running a business.
This year, after the general membership meeting, plans were in place for the “2024 Bigasan Plus”, which aims to further grow the bigasan. It will now include selling rice plus groceries. This partnership aims to further uplift the lives of the constituents in barangay Puntod by providing them with sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The “Bigasan sa Puntod” was spearheaded by past president Dr.
Josephine G. Go with committee members Zontians Rose Paras, Denvi Cabrera, Lily Lim and Gloria See who provided the seed money.
