CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City: Two alleged members of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the military in Bukidnon, Lt Col Jorge Jallorina, commanding officer of the army’s 8th Infantry Battalion said.

Jallorina, who released the information Tuesday, said that the surrender took place at the 8IB headquarters in Impasug-ong, Bukidnon Thursday (March 12, 2026).

Jallorina did not identify the surrenderer who also turned over one M16 rifle and confessed that they were forced to give up the armed struggle due to dwindling support of the local populace.

Jallorina also said that as the two NPAs surrendered the military also unearthed four high powered firearms and ammunition in an arms cache in San Miguel, Surigao del Sur on March 13, 2026.

The surrenderer are now in the custody of the army’s 8IB for processing to be able to avail of various government assistance while the high powered firearms are in the custody of the army’s 30IB in Surigao del Norte.
