CAMP ALAGAR, Cagayan de Oro City – Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) successfully confiscated the abandoned smuggled cigarettes amounting to more than PhP1.1 million in Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte on September 22, 2025.

At around 9:10 PM, personnel from the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC-LDN), Sultan Naga Dimaporo Municipal Police Station (SND MPS), and Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU-LDN PPO) responded to a tip from a concerned citizen regarding a pile of alleged smuggled cigarettes concealed under a β€œtrapal” at Purok 8, Brgy. Bauyan, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, LDN.

Upon arrival, the operating team recovered the contraband about 5 meters from the national highway under a banana plantation. Due to heavy rainfall and the critical condition of the area, the seized items were transported to the Barangay Hall in Purok 2, Brgy. Bauyan, SND for safekeeping and inventory.

Recovered were 22 master cases of Astro Red cigarettes, each containing 50 reams; five transparent cellophanes containing 50 reams of Astro Red each; one transparent cellophane containing 40 reams of Astro Red; one transparent cellophane containing 50 reams of ERA Black; and one transparent cellophane containing 44 reams of ERA Black. In total, 28 master cases and 84 reams of assorted cigarettes were confiscated, with an estimated market value of PhP1,187,200.00. The items were brought to SND MPS for documentation and proper disposition.

PBGEN ROLINDO M SUGUILON, Regional Director, PRO10, lauded the quick response of the operating units and the cooperation of the community.

β€œThis successful seizure demonstrates the importance of community partnership in our campaign against smuggling. We commend the concerned citizen who immediately reported the presence of these illegal goods. Rest assured, PRO10 remains steadfast in our efforts to protect the local economy and safeguard public welfare against the harmful effects of smuggling,” he said. ###
