Representative Rufus Rodriguez fulfills his commitment to provide financial aid to the successful passers of the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) in Zambales who come from Cagayan de Oro City.
Mr. Melrich Akiatan, Mr. Jerome Jamito, Ms. Richlyn Savella, and Ms. Sheena Maghinay, all residents from Cagayan de Oro, personally received cash assistance worth P5,000 each.
“The initial financial assistance they received will help them with their travel fees going to Zambales to finalize their admission to PMMA. We will ensure we continue to provide support to our merchant students from Cagayan de Oro,” Rodriguez said.
There are nine (9) students from CdeO and Misamis Oriental who successfully gone through the stages of the application process including the entrance examinations, neuropsychological screening, medical and dental examination.
They are currently undergoing orientation in PMMA Zambales.
Rodriguez extends his congratulations to the future cadets meanwhile encouraging other aspiring Kagay-anons and Misamisnons to start preparing for next year’s applications.
It can be remembered that Rodriguez is a supporter of improving the maritime industry in the Philippines thereby authoring Republic Act 11782 or the act establishing a PMMA campus in Cagayan de Oro City.
