The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), in partnership with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-10, recently concluded a 3-day Level 1 Basic Incident Command System (ICS) Course. Held from September 6th to the 8th at the Asenso Misamis Occidental Sports and Cultural Center, this training aimed to strengthen the crisis response capabilities of government personnel.
The Level 1 Basic ICS Course was organized to equip government personnel with essential organizational skills tailored to the complexity of incidents or events. The program also sought to enhance the preparedness of the Incident Management Team in effectively responding to crises while emphasizing leadership and management by objectives.
The event garnered significant participation from provincial department heads and representatives from various sectors and government agencies, showcasing a commitment to improving crisis management across the region. This collaborative effort between the PDRRMC and OCD-10 underscored the importance of continuous training and preparedness in the face of unexpected challenges.
Patrick Alain Callañta, the Rehabilitation and Recovery Management Section Chief leading the initiative, emphasized the significance of this training. He stated, “In an ever-changing and dynamic environment, equipping our government personnel with the right skills and knowledge is paramount. This course empowers individuals and teams to respond effectively when our communities need us the most.”
The 3-day program covered a range of topics, including incident command structure, communication systems, resource management, and decision-making processes. It provided a comprehensive foundation for participants to better coordinate and respond to various incidents, from natural disasters to public emergencies.
The PDRRMC Misamis Occidental and OCD-10 have demonstrated their unwavering commitment to enhancing the region’s crisis management capabilities through initiatives like the Level 1 Basic ICS Course.
