CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – A prominent pastor of a religious group in this city was arrested by police authorities by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the court here for his alleged involvement in the killing of a candidate for Mister Cagayan de Oro last May 9, this year.
The arrest warrant was served to Pastor Dimver Andales, senior pastor of a Baptist Church based in Barangay Lapasan. this city. Also arrested was a certain Jether Nonot, popularly known as “Kuya” in their barangay. Nonot was said to be a Junior pastor in the same religious sect.
Both Andales and Nonot were linked to the murder of 24-year-old Adrian Rovic Fornillos, a graduating student of a college university in Cagayan de Oro, the investigation said.
Police investigators on Fornillos murder have earlier told the media that the murder was a crime of passion as there was a reported love triangle before the killing of Fornillos on May 9 in Barangay Nazareth while visiting his pageant coach.
Pastor Andales’ lawyer, Rhobert Maestre, told the media they will do their best to prove the innocence of his client in the murder of the student.
In an earlier interview with the local media here, Pastor Andales maintained his innocence linking him to the murder.
He said his son is running for a barangay post and these false accusations started. He also said he was in Bukidnon during the shooting to death of Fornillos.
Pastor Andales said these accusations are all planned and fabricated lies to besmirch their family’s reputation. ###
