The four provincial Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) federation of Northern Mindanao is now looking into the Misamis Oriental Youth Development roadmap as a model hub, while the youth federation of this province has almost completed its convergence effort in connecting the 9 pillars as mandated by the National Youth Commission (NYC), to connect it in every local government unit’s Provincial Youth Development Council in accordance to RA 10742, or the SK Reform Act of 2015.
Misamis Oriental SK Federation President Kerwin N. Soldevilla, in an interview, said that out of 22 towns and 2 component cities, there are already 21 towns which have already been assessed and evaluated.
Soldevilla said that the SK Federation of the province were he represented to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan as Ex-officio member, has already conducted evaluation to federation members since 2019, where the 21 towns were consulted on youth policies to be forwarded to NYC that led on the assessment and evaluation of all the towns and cities.
The assessment and evaluation then will be forwarded to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, copy furnished to all Local Executives.
“We can claim that Misamis Oriental becomes the pilot province in Northern Mindanao for the Comprehensive Barangay Development Plan and the Annual Youth Investment Program. A consistent Strategic Planning is the secret of this success in an effort to create a Provincial Youth Development roadmap,” he added.
Networking down to the grassroots with representations from respective Youth leaders is also the key factor why they are almost completed.
Merely less than a year from now, the Sangguniang Kabataan incumbent officials will exit and will welcome the new leaders for the youth after October of this year’s SK and Barangay elections. ###
