MANILA — Mindanao Daily News Deputy Editor and Columnist Rufino Ruffy Magbanua has been nominated by the Australia Awards and Alumni Engagement Program – Philippines for the Prestigious 2024 Australia Alumni Excellence Awards (AAEA).
The nomination was announced by Program Director Milalin Javellana, DPM informing Editor Magbanua on the ongoing selection process of the Awards.
“Your achievements and contributions to community press are truly inspiring, and we are honoured to receive your nomination,” Javellana said.
During the past months, the shortlisting and validation of nominations has been conducted. After completing this stage, a judging panel, composed of an Australian Embassy official, a past alumni awardee and distinguished leaders from both the private and public sectors, will be convened in January 2025 for the final selection of winners, Javellana further said.
Henceforth, the Australian Embassy will be hosting the AAEA Awards Night in March 2025, of which all nominees will be invited to attend. We will continue to keep you posted on further developments, she explained.
Director Javellana honored Editor Magbanua for being an exemplary member of the Australia alumni community in the Philippines. “Your dedication and accomplishments as community journalist/editor/columnist continue to make a significant impact”, she added.
