Jolo is now ASG-free, says police chief Annidul Sali

JOLO, Sulu – The municipality of Jolo, this province, is now free from ASG.

Banditry and other crimes are usually perpetrated by the dreaded group, known worldwide as the Abu Sayyaf Group, Or most popularly known as ASG, a top PNP Official in Jolo reported Wednesday.

PLCol Annidul Sali, Jolo PNP chief, told MDM News Bureau that with the government’s massive campaign, which resulted in the killing of its leader, the ASG leadership has weakened until they were finally eradicated in the province a few years ago.

Sali said the province and all its municipalities have been peaceful after the total eradication of the ASG bandit group. “Kaya masasabi natin na ASG free napo ang probinsya ng Tawi-Tawi, especially in Patikul, Sulu na tinaguriang kuta ng Abu Sayyaf,” Colonel Sali said.

PLCol Sali was also a former police director of the Municipality of Bongao, the MDN News Bureau also learned.

ELECTION

Meanwhile, the town of Jolo is tagged color green by the Commission of Elections, in as far as the Barangay Elections on October 30, this year.

He said out of eight barangays three are contested and five are not – or the candidates of these five barangays have no opponents and basically a sure winner during canvass of votes.

“We can assure the public that the upcoming elections will be generally peaceful with the help of the PNP counterparts in maintaining the peace and order in Jolo and other municipalities. ###
