Governor Oaminal Inspires USTP Graduates at Commencement: Pledges Educational Support and Encourages Transformative Leadership

A momentous day unfolded at the Asenso Misamis Occidental Sports and Cultural Center as Governor Henry Oaminal graced the joint commencement exercises of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Oroquieta and Panaon campuses. The ceremony, themed “Advancing the Frontiers of Education for Social Progress, Environmental Protection, and Sustainable Development,” witnessed a celebratory atmosphere as graduates from both campuses were honored for their achievements.

A total of 423 graduates marked their accomplishment as they received their graduation diplomas in the 6th graduation ceremony, which included 191 students from USTP-Oroquieta and 232 students from USTP-Panaon. The event was characterized by an outpouring of joy and a sense of fulfillment, as these aspiring professionals embarked on a new chapter in their lives.

Governor Oaminal’s presence added a significant layer of inspiration to the occasion. In his address, he reiterated the pivotal role of education within the province’s overarching development plan, encapsulated by the 5Ms: “Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon.” He highlighted the launch of the “Aseno Pamilya: One Family One Professional Program,” which seeks to provide educational assistance to qualified beneficiaries, aiming to reduce poverty and empower families through education.

Congratulating the graduates on their remarkable journey, Governor Oaminal recognized their perseverance and dedication to their dreams. He extended his admiration to the families and guardians who supported the graduates throughout their educational pursuits.

Reflecting on his own experiences, Governor Oaminal imparted valuable wisdom about determination and perseverance. He encouraged the graduates to embrace their potential, lead with honor, and forge a legacy that uplifts and empowers generations to come.

“As I reflect on my own journey, I have learned that with determination and perseverance, we can create opportunities, uplift the lives of the people around us, and break the cycle of generational poverty through education,” Governor Oaminal emphasized.

As a token of recognition and support, Governor Oaminal presented a graduation cash gift of P3,000 for all students and P5,000 for honor students. He extended his gratitude to the dedicated faculty and staff of USTP by awarding them with P6,000 each for their invaluable contributions.

The event culminated with a sense of optimism and a shared commitment to the betterment of Misamis Occidental through education. Governor Oaminal’s message reverberated through the hearts of the graduates, leaving them inspired to embrace their roles as catalysts of positive change in their communities and beyond.
