Cagayan de Oro businesswoman Gilda “Gigi” Go is this year’s District Governor elect (DGE) of Rotary International District 3870, which comprises many Rotary clubs in Mindanao island, for Rotary Year 2023-2024.
As incoming governor of this prestigious international organization, the governor-elect is expected to deliver a lot of projects for the less privileged in Mindanao as well as other worthwhile projects benefiting all sectors in society.
To fulfil the vision and mission of Rotary International, DGE Go already prepared the district’s active and most promising Rotarians to hold various chairmanship positions.
1. Rotarian Ardel Castañeda Padayhag
Meet RTN. ARDEL CASTAÑEDA-PADAYHAG, MD. She will be District 3870’s DISTRICT CHAIR – MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH for RY 2023-2024.
As a physician, Dr. Ardel will ensure that the District will be true to Rotary’s goal of making high-quality health care available to vulnerable mothers and children.
Maternal and Child Health is one of Rotary’s 7 Areas of Focus. Rotary Clubs come up with projects that provide education, immunizations, birth kits, and mobile health clinics. Women are taught how to prevent mother-to-infant HIV transmission, how to breast-feed, and how to protect themselves and their children from diseases so that they can live longer and grow stronger.
“THANK YOU Doc Ardel for accepting the assignment! With you in the District Team, I am sure we will be able to make a difference in the lives of the mothers and their children in our local communities,” DGE Go said.
Dr. Ardel Castañeda-Padayhag is a member of the Rotary Club of Kalayaan Cagayan de Oro and is connected with the City Health Office of Iligan City.
2. Rotarian Luis Ramon Pineda
Meet PAG LUIS RAMON PINEDA of the Rotary Club of Carmen Valley. He has accepted the invitation to serve as District 3870’s STEWARDSHIP CHAIR under the District Rotary Foundation Committee for Rotary year 2023-2024. “Thank you PAG LUIS for accepting this assignment!,” the governor-elect added.
PAG Luis will be working with 8 other Chairs under the District Rotary Foundation Committee to educate clubs about the Foundation and inspire them to support its programs and fundraising activities.
Stewardship is the cornerstone of The Rotary Foundation to ensure the careful management of Rotary Foundation grant funds and for educating Rotarians on proper and effective grant management.
3. Maggie Gudella Zapanta-Tse
Meet PAG MAGGIE GUDELLA ZAPANTA-TSE, District 3870’s incoming ROTARY COMMUNITY CORPS CHAIR for 2023-2024.
A Rotary Community Corps (RCC) is a group of non-Rotarians who share our commitment to changing the world through service projects.
RCC members plan and carry out projects in their communities and support local Rotary club projects. Sponsored by a Rotary club, an RCC leverages Rotary’s network, brand, and mentorship by partnering with clubs to plan and implement service projects. RCCs increase Rotary’s impact and expand its reach by bringing the knowledge and talents of local people to strengthen their community through sustainable projects.
There are more than 11,000 corps in 105 countries and 257 districts. RCCs are active everywhere Rotary is present: in urban and rural areas, and in both developed and developing countries.
PAG Maggie, THANK YOU for your willingness to serve with me in the District!
PAG Maggie is a member of the Rotary Club of Gingoog Bay.
4. Rosalinda “Lady Linda” Caragos
Today we’re featuring one of District 3870’s dedicated member with an impressive Club and District leadership experience:
Meet PAG ROSALINDA “Lady Linda” CARAGOS, our incoming DISTRICT MEMBERSHIP CHAIR for RY 2023-2024.
As DISTRICT MEMBERSHIP CHAIR, PAG Lady Linda will support the work of the club membership committees as they identify prospective members, introduce them to Rotary, and involve all their club members in meaningful ways. By attracting new members and keeping existing members, Rotary International and the Clubs under District 3870 will be able to continue serving the urgent and pressing needs of the local communities.
PAG Lady Linda is a member of the Rotary Club of CDO East Urban.
“THANK YOU PAG Lady Linda for accepting the assignment!,” DGE Go said.
