Empowering the Differently-Abled: Ozamiz City’s PWD’s Benefit from Cash for Work Program

In a heartwarming display of community support and empowerment, beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Cash for Work Program in Ozamiz City are expressing their gratitude for the opportunities provided to them. Among those who have benefited from the program is Mr. Felipe Peja, a 47-year-old married resident of Purok Malinawon, Barangay Tinago.

Under the visionary leadership of Mayor Atty Indy Oaminal, the Padayon Asenso Ozamiz Administration has extended a helping hand to individuals like Mr. Peja. Despite any limitations in their capabilities and abilities, the present administration has demonstrated a commitment to recognizing the value of every community member.

“I am truly grateful to Mayor Atty Indy Oaminal and the entire administration for acknowledging our contributions to the community. This program has given us a chance to prove our worth and contribute positively,” Mr. Peja shared.

The support doesn’t stop at the city level. The leadership of Asenso Misamis Occidental, led by Governor Atty Henry Sevilla Oaminal, and 2nd District Representative Congressman Ando Oaminal, has been unwavering in their commitment to improving the lives of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) within the city.

The Cash for Work Program provides beneficiaries with an opportunity to engage in meaningful work while earning a stipend to support their daily needs. Each beneficiary is set to receive ₱3,900, which will undoubtedly alleviate some of the financial burdens they face.

This initiative is a testament to the power of community collaboration and the positive impact it can have on individuals who often face additional challenges due to their disabilities. By acknowledging their contributions and providing them with opportunities for economic participation, Ozamiz City’s leadership is setting an inspiring example for other communities.

As the beneficiaries of the DSWD-Cash for Work Program express their gratitude, their stories serve as a reminder that small gestures of support and recognition can go a long way in creating a more inclusive and harmonious society.
