In a coordinated effort between the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Misamis Occidental, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental, led by Working Governor Henry Sevillla Oaminal, a significant sum of over P3 million in emergency relief assistance was disbursed to support 223 micro rice retailers in the province.
The distribution of cash assistance took place on a Friday, where Governor Henry S. Oaminal and LGU Tudela Mayor Samson Parojinog graced the event at the Working Congressman Sports & Cultural Complex in Tudela.
Governor Oaminal went a step further by providing additional financial aid totaling P6,000 and essential food packs to micro rice retailers who had been impacted by the implementation of mandated price ceilings on regular and well-milled rice in the province.
Under the DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program – Economic Relief Subsidy, qualified micro rice retailers in Misamis Occidental, who bore the brunt of the rice price cap, each received cash assistance amounting to P15,000. This assistance is aimed at helping them recover from the economic challenges posed by the price control measures.
The joint effort between DSWD, DTI, and the Provincial Government is part of the ongoing commitment to support and uplift local businesses affected by economic policies. It underscores the dedication of local authorities to the welfare of the community, ensuring that micro rice retailers can continue to thrive and contribute to the economic growth of Misamis Occidental.
