Thousands of Dabawenyos took to the streets during the Parada Dabawenyo this morning as part of the 88th Araw ng Davao celebration, expressing their support for former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
The crowd chanted “Duterte! Duterte! Duterte!” while marching, waving placards bearing Duterte’s image and slogans demanding his release from the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands.
The demonstration highlighted the deep loyalty of Dabawenyos to Duterte, who served as Davao City mayor for decades before his presidency. Many participants called for his return to Davao, emphasizing their belief in his leadership despite the charges he faces before the ICC.
Duterte is currently in ICC custody, facing allegations of crimes against humanity linked to his administration’s “war on drugs.” While human rights groups continue to push for accountability, his supporters insist on his innocence and decry what they describe as political persecution.
