FRESH from signing a sisterhood agreement with Cagayan de Oro City on October 20 this year, San Juan City Mayor Francisco Javier Zamora didn’t waste time in inviting his counterpart Mayor Rolando Uy to hold an expo in Metro Manila’s go-to shopping destination Greenhills Shopping Center.

Located in the heart of San Juan City, Greenhills is the icon of commerce in the nation’s capital that houses the best brands and most unique finds.

“San Juan can help promote Cagayan de Oro. We can hold a weekend expo there where you can showcase your products, your tourist destinations, investment opportunities and even employment opportunities,” Zamora told Uy in the presence of more than a hundred people who witnessed the event held on the sidelines of a League of the Cities of the Philippines board meeting which the San Juan City mayor presided.

In return, Uy said that he “believes that our two cities have many experiences and ideas that we can share with one another.”

“This can strengthen our relationship for cooperation in local governance, economic development, tourism, culture and public service,” Uy said during the event held at the spacious ballroom of Limketkai Luxe Hotel.

Uy personally signed the sisterhood agreement with San Juan City Mayor Francisco Javier M. Zamora with Cagayan de Oro City Councilor and Committee on Tourism & Sister City Relations Vice-Chairperson Juancho R. Pascual who served as witness.

Present at the Sisterhood Agreement signing ceremony were the League of Cities of the Philippines (LCP)’s National Executive Board members and Mindanao-based city mayors, 21st city council led by Vice Mayor Rodriguez, Chief of Staff Sheila Lumbatan, City Administrator Atty. Roy Hilario Raagas, city hall department managers, personnel of the Oro Trade Investments Promotions Center (ORO-TIPC) personnel, City Mayor’s Office, City Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office (CTCAO), among others.

A sisterhood agreement is a formal, long-term partnership between two distinct municipalities or local government units (LGUs) designed to promote cultural, economic, educational, and governance exchanges. WITH REPORT FROM CIO
