SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur — The family of the late Rene Clert “Bobet” N. Baterbonia has received a condominium unit worth P2.266 million from the National Housing Authority as housing assistance.

The unit is located at Madayaw Residences along Sierra Madre Road in Bangkal, Davao City.

According to Agusan del Sur Governor Santiago B. Cane Jr., the NHA contacted him on behalf of the Baterbonia family and informed him that the grant was made upon the directive of NHA General Manager Joeben A. Tai.

Representatives from NHA Region XIII were scheduled to visit the Baterbonia family to formally inform them of the housing assistance.

The family had lived for more than 20 years in an ancestral house inherited from the parents of Bobet’s father. The house was located in a flood-prone area, forcing the family to evacuate to a church whenever heavy rains caused flooding.

Before his death, Baterbonia had expressed his wish to move his family to Davao City so his mother could look after the schooling of his youngest sibling.

The housing assistance was facilitated through the NHA, with support from the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur, the Office of Governor Cane, the Local Government Unit of Talacogon, and other partners.

Cane also announced that Home Suite by CLC Marketing Ventures Corp. confirmed it would provide furniture for the condominium unit.

The governor thanked the NHA officials in Butuan City, led by Regional Director Erasme G. Madlos, and the private donors who extended assistance to the Baterbonia family.

Baterbonia was a young basketball standout from Agusan del Sur whose story drew public attention following his death.
