THE City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) proudly celebrated the successful staging of the first-ever Gawad Agipo, witnessed by Mayor Klarex Uy on Wednesday, June 10, at the City Tourism Hall.

Gawad Agipo was created to recognize students and organizations that have demonstrated outstanding dedication to community service by sharing their talents and knowledge, particularly in the field of education.

In his message, CCCDO President Dr. Jestoni Babia emphasized that the event was not merely an awards ceremony but a testament that education should not be measured solely by high grades. He highlighted that leadership, service, and the ability to create positive change within the community are equally important.

Mayor Klarex Uy also shared that Gawad Agipo is one of his long-held dreams for the education sector.

“This is very close to my heart. When I was still a barangay captain, my dream was to provide more opportunities for education because I believe that education is the greatest equalizer,” Mayor Klarex said.

The awards presented included:

Outstanding School-Based Project Implementation Award
Outstanding Community-Based Project Implementation Award
Emergency Response Award
Outstanding Volunteer Team Award
Most Outstanding Recognized Student Organization
Most Outstanding Student Council
Students who demonstrated excellence in various fields were also recognized through the following awards:
