SAN FRANCISCO, Agusan del Sur–Minor damages were observed in three public schools following the recent earthquake, prompting immediate inspections by the  Butuan City Government’s Infrastructure Audit Team.

In their social media post, the Butuan City Public Information Office said eight audit teams were deployed across various schools to quickly assess the condition of buildings and facilities. Evaluations in other schools are ongoing to ensure that all structures are safe and ready for use as the new school year begins.

Classes for all levels in both public and private schools in Butuan City will remain suspended tomorrow, June 9 as safety checks continue.

The Infrastructure Audit Team continues to inspect school buildings, structures, and facilities to verify their structural integrity and guarantee the safety of students and teachers.

The public is advised to await further official announcements from the City Government of Butuan for updates on school operations.

The Department of Social Welfare and Devlopment Cataga Field Office Unit said two Mobile Storage Units (MSUs) from the Mindanao Disaster Resource Center (MDRC) are now bound for Region XII to support relief operations for communities affected by the Magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Monday morning.

Serving as temporary warehouses during emergencies, these MSUs help ensure the organized storage, management, and rapid distribution of relief goods to affected families. Their deployment will strengthen the region’s disaster response capacity and support ongoing humanitarian efforts on the ground.
