“A nation is weakened by the absence of wisdom. When knowledge goes unpublished, wisdom remains imprisoned – unseen by the world. It becomes underutilization of our intellectual capital,” Apag said.

He then went on to say that “research is becomes powerful when it creates solutions and impact – research that informs communities and influences governance.”

“Patuloy tayong manaliksik at magsulat,” Apag then concluded.

More than a hundred criminology educators in the country gathered in Cagayan de Oro City from May 15 to 16 for the said purpose.

It was organized by the Federation of Authors in Criminology and Criminal Justice, Inc. and the Council of Deans Criminology Education – 10 led by president Dr. Gerry Cano in partnership with the Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines (PCAP) which he also heads.

During the first day of the summit, the criminology educators are batting for an overhaul of the criminology curriculum in the country from the 1954 standard to suit to the changing times.
