CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: A couple and their 13-year-old daughter died in a fire that gobbled up a residential house in a middle class subdivision in Cagayan de Oro City Monday night. Fire Senior Inspector Louis Roy B. Solamo, Station Commander in Lapasan Fire Station, identified the fatalities as Arsenio Talara, 66, wife Anne Rose, 40 and their 13-yesr-old daughter Mary. Solano said that the Talara family lived in a residential house in Block 10 Lot 32, Phase 2, Mega Heights Subd., in Gusa, a suburban village southeast of Cagayan de Oro City. Fire investigators are looking into the cause of the fire considering that that the house has no electrical connection for the past 15 years. Witnesses told fire investigators that the couple lived as caretakers after the original owners reportedly left the country 15 years ago. Solamo said that fire investigators are looking deeper into the cause of the fire that led to the death of the entire family. He said that the structural damage of the house, a two-floor mixed light and concrete materials, was estimated at P960,000. “We could not say with certainty that faulty electrical wiring might have cause the fire since the house has no electrical connection at all,” Solamo said. He said that the cictims used solar powered lights and has a dirty kitchen at the back of the house.
