The recent unanimous ruling by the Supreme Court in favor of Vice President Sara Duterte marks not only a legal triumph but also a significant stand against political mechanism. The attempted impeachment, driven by Speaker Martin Romualdez and his allies, was revealed as a politically motivated strategy aimed at undermining the Vice President’s position ahead of the 2028 elections.They exhausted all their power, millions in fact billions just to bribe favor and collect signatures.Now thats down the drain.
In December 2024, three verified impeachment complaints were filed, each one duly endorsed and ready for transmission. However, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco openly admitted that Congress chose to withhold these complaints to “buy time” for a more favorable version. This deliberate obstruction reveals a dubios disregard for due process and constitutional integrity.
On February 5, the House introduced a fourth complaint, bypassing the legitimate complaints that had already been filed. This maneuver not only violated established rules but also represented an orchestrated effort to eliminate a strong political opponent.The Supreme Court’s ruling deemed this fourth complaint unconstitutional, reinforcing the importance of adhering to constitutional safeguards against such abuses using political power.
Despite facing various attacks and smear campaigns plus the extrajudicial rendition of his father to the ICC ,VP Sara Duterte has maintained high approval ratings among the public. This resilience determines her commitment to serving the nation while exposing attempts to manipulate democratic processes for personal agendas.The attempt taken against her breaks the issues within the Congress regarding accountability and respect for institutional integrity.
Sara Duterte Survived and now She is Ready for Presidency
This ruling from the Supreme Court blocks the impeachment ,serves as both a victory for VP Sara Duterte and a warning against those who misuse power in pursuit of political ambition. It reminds us that democracy thrives on transparency and adherence to constitutional principles; any deviation threatens its very foundation.
