3 former members of the terrorist group, converted to the government

CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao del Norte – The three victims of wrong ideology and circumstances finally gave up their armed struggle and chose a more orderly and peaceful life.

This caused the three former fighters of the terrorist group to abandon the armed struggle and present themselves to the leadership of the 90th Infantry (Bigkis-Lahi) Battalion.

According to Lt. Col. Rowel E. Gavilanes the Commanding Officer of the 90IB the converted former local terrorists have aliases Jack, Simen and Abu Katib/Abu Jamer and are residents of Brgy Tonganon, Carmen, North Cotabato.

They were immediately presented to the local government of the town of Carmen under the leadership of Mayor Rogelio T. Taliño with Col. Niel Alfonso R. Roldan PA, 602 nd Deputy Brigade Commander represented Brigadier General Donald Gumiran, Commander of the 602nd Brigade in a simple ceremony at the Municipal Hall, at 10:00 this morning (April 5, 2024).

They also surrendered the weapons they were carrying, which were three Cal. 30 M1 Garand Rifles and ammunition.

Those who surrendered to former extremist groups were given a sack of rice each.

Because of this, Major General Alex S. Rillera PA, Commander of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central praised the efforts of the 90IB and the local government to pave the way for the continued growth of tranquility and peace. . “We assure that we will continue to extend our efforts to maintain this momentum and achieve lasting peace in Central and South Central Mindanao. I sincerely prayed and hoped that more of our compatriots who have lost their way will convert to our government”, stated Maj. Gen. Rillera.
