CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao del Norte – Our brave soldiers immediately disarmed two unexploded ordnance (UXO) that were found separately in the provinces of Sultan Kudarat and Maguindanao del Sur.
According to Lt. Col. Jayson Domingo, leader of the 1st Mechanized Battalion, his men were patrolling the area of Barangay Sigayan, Lambayong, Sultan Kudarat, past 6:00 a.m. yesterday when they found the UXO which is a rocket propelled grenade (RPG).
Meanwhile, another unexploded rifle grenade was found by elements of the 92nd Infantry Battalion while they were conducting a security patrol in barangay Dapiawan, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur in the report of the 92IB, yesterday.
Both the area was cordoned off and the said explosives were disarmed with the help of the EOD team of the army.
Major General Alex S. Rillera, head of 6ID and JTF Central, immediately praised the 1st Mechanized Battalion and 92nd Battalion, both under the supervision of JTF Central, for promptly responding to suspicious things in the vicinity.
“I am appealing to our citizens that if you see any suspicious things in your area, immediately report it to our security forces. We know that these weapons of war are very harmful and dangerous to life and property when they explode”, part of the appeal of Maj. Gen. Rillera.
