Cagayan de Oro-Around 15 transport cooperative in Northern Mindanao joined on Wednesday’s Regional Public Utility Vehicle modernization program consultative meeting held at Nazareth gymnasium here, spearheaded by the Land Transportation and Franchising Board(LTFRB) Region 10.
Majority of the transport players don’t want an extension again for the consolidation of jeepney operators into cooperative or corporation which deadline set on December 31 this year.
LTFRB Region 10 Regional Director Amanodin Guro said that what is the hindrance of the program is the support coming from the Local Government Units(LGUs) in coming out the Local Public Transport Route Plan(LTPRP) to be submitted to them but only 2 LGUs only from Northern Mindanao comply the said requirement ask by LTFRB and these are the town of Manolo Fortich in Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro City.
Almost 2,000 Modernized vehicle are now plying in Region 10 with 78 routes, said Guro and majority of them are from this city and Misamis Oriental.
There’s a minimal oversight on overlapping issues to undertake by the bureau but it can be done in a proper time,added Guro but as of the moment,they focused on the consolidation and submission of LTPRP from different LGUs in Northern Mindanao and when these LGU’s cannot cooperate with this requirement, Transport group can file an administrative case to LGUs involved for derilition of duty.
