CLAVERIA, Misamis Oriental- One (1) NPA rebel killed, and one (1) high-powered firearm and two (2) back packs were recovered during an armed clash between the government troops under 58th Infantry (Dimalulupig) Battalion and the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) at Brgy Alagatan, Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental this afternoon, October 20, 2022.
Troops of the 58IB acting upon reports received from recently deployed PNP, R-PSB from concerned civilians when they encountered more or less 08 CTGs believed to be remnants of Platoon Falcon, SRC-1, NCMRC. The said encounter happened at around 2:26 in the afternoon and the firefight lasted for about 20 minutes which resulted in the death of one NPA member and the capture of one M16 rifle, and two backpacks. A pursuit operation is still ongoing.
Lieutenant Colonel Christian C Uy, the Commanding Officer of the 58th Infantry (Dimalulupig) Battalion said “Another life has been lost just because of failed ideology of the Communist Terrorists Groups. “I am reiterating our call to the remnants of the CTGs who are still hiding in the hinterlands to lay down their arms and return to the folds of the law while they still have the opportunity. Our troops will not hesitate to use force against you and you will end up with the same fate as the one casualty.This encounter should serve as another eye-opener to the remaining members of the NPA to voluntarily surrender and avail the different programs of the government that are enough for them to start a new life. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” Lt. Col. Uy added.
The said cadaver is yet to be identified and transported to St. Peter Funeral Homes, Gingoog City thru the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (CDRRMC) for the proper disposition of the cadaver and exhaust all means to inform the family of the killed CTG.
