CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: A lawmaker from Cagyan de Oro on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, filed a resolution in Congress urging a probe on the death of an Overseas Foreign Worker (OFW) in Kuwait.
The remains of OFW Dafnie Nacalaban, 35, of Dansolihon, Cagayan de Oro City, was found buried in the gardener’s yard of her employer’s home in Saad Al-Abdullah, Jahra, Kuwait.
On December 31 2024, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported about the recovery of Nacalaban’s body, a domestic worker in Kuwait since 2019.
Her second employer reported that Nacalaban was missing in October 2024, the DFA said.
Cagayan de Oro Congressman Rufus Rodriguez, filed House Resolution No. 2151 seeking a probe of Nacalaban’s death.
Resolution 2151 directed the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), the DFA and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), to conduct an investigation, in aid of legislation, on the tragic death of OFW Nacalaban.
The family of the victim sought the assistance of Rodriguez to ask the national government to cover the costs for repatriation, funeral, psychosocial, financial, livelihood and educational assistance to the family of the victim.
