Zamboanga-Sibugay is now insurgency free, says Lieutenant Colonel Pumbaya

BY JESSIE P. MONGCAL, MDN News Bureau

ZAMBOANGA-SIBUGAY – A top-ranking official of the army based in this province revealed to MDN that until now the province is still insurgency-free.

106 Infantry Brigade Commanding Officer Anshary U.Pumbaya, in an exclusive interview, said his AOR is declared insurgency-free as far as peace and order is concerned.

“Ang 106IB covers 16 municipalities of the whole province of Zamboanga-Sibugay,” Pumbaya explains to MDN.

Although he said there are still isolated cases of extortion by lawless elements, the province is generally peaceful.

Pumbaya said his men in uniform are continually monitoring the movements of some criminals who are into extortion activities.

“Sabi ko nga na generally peaceful naman ang Zamboanga-Sibugay although there is still the presence of criminals who are into extortion,” he said.

The army official said during his stay in the province, it is very manageable. “We are on the top of the peace and order situation in the province.”

SEA-BORNE OPERATIONS

Pumbaya said because of the locations of the municipalities under his AOR, he always sees to it that sea-borne operation is heightened.

“I always make sure na pinapalakas natin ang ating sea-borne operations to ensure and maintain the peace and order situation,” the army official added.
