ZAMBOANGA CITY – The City Mayor in one of the most progressive cities in Southern Philippines has warned anew her constituents against the more deadly attacks of new covid variant ‘Delta.’
Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar urged residents to actively participate in the local government’s vaccination program to keep them away from the reported deadly attacks of covid variant “Delta.”
In her advisory, the City mayor cited the importance of vaccination especially that the more contagious covid variant has been reported to have entered the country through OFWs.
In recent reports from the international media as well as from the revelations of health authorities, the Delta covid variant was first detected in India and it has caused the surge of cases in many countries in the world.
A new update released from the Philippine Genome Center (PGC), it revealed that the Delta variant has already 17 confirmed cases brought by returning Filipino travelers.
The Delta variant was detected by medical scientists at PGC on May 11, this year and as of June 17, the number of infections has aleady reached a total of 17 confirmed cases.
The mayor challenged her people to get vaccinated as soon as possible to protect them from the deadly attacks of the new variant of covid-19.
Menwhile, the local City Health Office (CHO) has already intensified its vaccination rollout to protect the Zamboagenious from dela attacks. A total of 56,256 from A1 to A4 were vaccinated from the priority groups by receiving their first dose of the vaccine.
There were also 16,969 who have received their decond doses of the anti-covid vaccines.
Mayor Salazar also urged her constituents to consider observing stricter protocols such as the wearing of face masks, face shields and physical distancing, including the regular hand santitation. – PNA
