Wire clearing conducted along Tagum flyover project route

TAGUM CITY – As part of the on-going construction of the flyover project, a clearing operation for cable and telecommunication wires was conducted through the assistance of the local government unit of Tagum last April 12, 2019.

Private companies and government offices coordinated in a joint clearing operation of cable and telecommunication wires traversing Crossing Tagum on Friday after its final coordinative meeting last April 9.

Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT), Wise Cable, Globe Telecom, Ulticon Builders Incorporated (UBI), Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH), Davao del Norte Electric Cooperative (DANECO), and LGU Tagum sat together on a series of coordinative meetings since January in preparation for the completion of the flyover project and other infra projects in the city. This resulted to mutual understanding of the private companies and the government agencies’ respective roles in the said operation.

The said wires of the different companies were cut and moved to different locations while the main lines of DANECO still remain on the main road while waiting for 4 posts to be delivered by Davao Light Company.

According to Mr. Michael Maghinay, the Project Evaluation IV of the City Planning and Development Office, once the posts are delivered, there will be an expected blackout in the whole city. This is to secure the safety of DANECO’s workers while they move and reconnect electrical wires for the whole city.

Each posts measures 110 ft. to match the height of the on-going flyover project. Prior to this action, there will also be a coordinative meeting this coming April 15 involving DANECO, UBI, National Grid Corporation (NGCP), and LGU Tagum to ensure the success of the operation.
