Water distribution system rehab at villa ernesto phase 1

Villa Ernesto Subdivision Phase 1 (VES-1) is situated at the end part of Barangay Gusa along national highway near the Bigaan Bridge connecting Barangay Cugman. Considered to be one of the pioneering private residential subdivisions in the city, the water distribution system of VES-1 is mostly composed of aged pipes, hence the need for replacement with new pipes.

The proposed rehabilitation of VES-1 Water Distribution Supply System with a total project cost of PhP 7,132,976.77 is part of COWD’s Non-Revenue Water (NRW) Reduction Program strategies.

COWD approved the award to Apalla Construction & Development Corporation the contract for 1 Lot Rehabilitation of the Water Supply System of Villa Ernesto Subdivision Phase 1, Gusa Cagayan de Oro City with a target completion of 180 calendar days. On 3 January 2023, Apalla started the installation of uPVC Distribution Pipelines, gate valves, electromagnetic flow meters, blow-off valve assembly, pressure regulating valves, residential fire hydrants assembly and meter stub-out assembly within the VES-1 perimeter.

After the rehabilitation, the pulling-out and transferring of five hundred three (503) existing water meters of COWD consumers to the proposed forty-three (43) meter stub-outs (MSO) will be undertaken by COWD as part of the rehabilitation plan. One (1) MSO holds about 20 water meters hence, 43 MSO shall accommodate about 860 service connections. When completed, this project is expected to eventually improve the water pressure in the subdivision.
