CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: The military seized a cache of war materiel and supplies were hidden in a cave in the mountain village of Agusan del Norte, a province in Caraga Region.
Lt. Col. Francisco P. Garello, chief of the army’s Public Affairs Division, said Friday that the cache contained numerous rounds of ammunition for an M16 Rifle, M14 Rifle, Cal. 30mm Garand Rifle, Fragmentation Grenade, Rifle Grenades, 40mm M203 Grenade, Blasting Cap and Detonating Wire for Anti-Personnel Mine (APM).
According to Garello, elements of the army’s 65IB Special Intelligence Operations also seized a food cache belonging to the members of so-called North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC).
He said that the arm cache and food supplies were seized in a cave in the mountain village of Kolambogan, Sibagat, Agusan del Norte on May 21 – 22, 2024.
In his statement, Major General Jose Maria R. Cuerpo II, Commander of 4ID, said that with the depletion of resources, the communist group will continue to be demoralized.
“With the help of the civilians who provide information about the activities and the whereabouts of the communist rebels, we are confident of finding and convincing them to peacefully surrender,” Cuerpo said
