CAGAYAN de Oro City–Two areas in the city’s urban villages here consisting of 206 families were on a “localized locked down” starting Tuesday after health authorities confirmed COVID-19 positive cases in the area.
City health officials, on Thursday, identified the area as Zone 10 with 92 families and Zone 7 with 17 families, all in Upper Carmen, and Sitio Macapaya with 97 families in Camaman-an, all urban villages here.
Dr. Joselito Retuya, the city’s epidemiologist who takes charge in the conduct of contract tracing of COVID-19 positive patients, said that the areas have been “contained” while swab tests are conducted to the nearest contacts of the COVID-19 positive patients.
Under a “contained” situation, the area is on a “lock down” with village officials and the local police working together to control the movement of residents in the area.
Retuya said that contract tracing is being conducted with all residents, neighbors and closest family members of “lockdown” areas while visitors are denied entry.
The “lock down” area is only cleared when health officials are certain that the area is already free of the COVID-19 cases.
