Two approved R&D proposals that resulted from the Ideation Activity of OROBEST Innovation Program otherwise known as Optimizing Regional Opportunities for Business Excellence thru Science, Technology and Innovation Program are set to be implemented by the proponent USTP-CDO this month of March 2020.

The projects are in line with the goals of the Northern Mindanao Consortium for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (NorMinCIEERD) that is to identify the most pressing needs of the partner-industry and provide technological solutions and innovation to address these needs in the form of R&D.

One project to be spearheaded by Engr. Adonis A. Closas in partnership with Oro Handmade Innovation is entitled, “Design, Fabrication, and Testing of Steam Dryer, Dough Mixer, and Molder for Paper Clay Making.”

The other project, headed by Engr. Kenneth Magsayo in partnership with the Bestfriend Goodies is entitled “Development of Twin-screw Extruder Machine with Filling Injector.”

Both of these projects are set for implementation.

DOST-10 Regional Director Alamban expressed hope of continued pursuit in designing programs that aims to champion industry sectors into becoming more globally competitive by undertaking R&D efforts to respond to the changing global needs.

The DOST-10 endeavors to fund more R&D efforts within the region under its Local Grant-in-Aid Funding.

The turn-over of checks took place March 1, at the USTP Boardroom, here. The event was graced by the DOST Undersecretary for Research and Development Dr. Rowena Cristina L. Guevara and DOST-10 Regional Director Alfonso P. Alamban. (DOST10/PIA10)
