UNDOCUMENTED FOREST PRODUCTS

DENR X- Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) Initao, Misamis Oriental personnel (top photos) administers scaling and identification of undocumented forest products composed of 13 pieces of Mangkono lumber with a total volume of 10,120 board feet and 30 pieces of Yakal lumber with a total volume of 600 board feet loaded in one unit 10-wheeler wing van truck bearing Plate No. NGK-2075 allegedly from San Francisco, Agusan del Sur on August 11, 2022.

On the conservation status of the forest products per DENR Administrative Order 2017-11, Mangkono (Xanthostemon verdugonianus) is an endangered species while Yakal (Shorea astylosa) is listed as critically endangered species. Based on the incident report of Police Station 10, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City and affidavits of Messrs. Emil John Gerogalin (bottom, left) and Jay Ryan Labajo (bottom, right) duly subscribed and sworn to before lawyer Michael Vincent M. Uy, Public Attorney’s Office Cagayan de Oro City, the truck driver with the consent of the truck owner surrendered the truck loaded with undocumented forest products at Police Station 10, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City recently.

The truck with the undocumented forest products was brought to the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office of Misamis Oriental for safe keeping and administrative adjudication proceeding will be conducted as soon as possible pursuant to DAO 97-32 prescribed timeline.
