TUBOD, Lanao del Norte, Aug. 11 – Twenty-two (22) beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) are thankful to the Department and the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte for the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) program.
They received their wages for the 10-day work of disinfecting and sanitizing their own houses through the “Bahay Ko, Barangay Ko” initiative.
The beneficiaries composed of Pumpboat Operators, Motorcycle Drivers, Carpenters, Household Workers, Fishermen, Baby Sitters, Laundrywoman, Contract Workers, Beauticians, and Farm Laborers.
Provincial Governor Imelda ‘Angging’ Quibranza-Dimaporo personally met the beneficiaries from the Municipalities of Tubod and Baroy and asked for their help in informing their friends, neighbors, and family members on the importance of observing the health protocols of the Department of Health and following the guidelines established by the Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
“What we only asked from you is your total cooperation. Strict observance of DOH health protocols and the guidelines established by the IATF will be your great contribution for us to win against this COVID-19 pandemic,” she said.
The Governor reminded them to regularly wash their hands, wear a face mask, face shield, and observe physical or social distancing when in public places to curtail local transmission.
“This is not only for your safety but also for the safety of the people around you, especially your loved ones,” she added.
Governor Dimaporo also informed the beneficiaries that the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte through the Incident Management Team proactively initiate measures to protect the safety and security of the residents by installing quarantine checkpoints at the borders in partnership with the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police, as well as, the establishment of additional isolation facilities like the two buildings in Lanao del Norte Provincial Hospital in Baroy, the Infirmary and Annex Buildings in new Kapatagan Provincial Hospital, Kolambugan Provincial Hospital converted into an isolation facility, more rooms created in Mindanao Civic Center Stadium to house the Locally Stranded Individuals and Returning Overseas Filipinos for their 14-day quarantine period, and the creation of the Provincial COVID-19 Testing Laboratory in Old Kapatagan Provincial Hospital, the only COVID-19 Testing Laboratory spearheaded by a provincial government in Region 10.
Further, the Provincial Chief Executive requested them to include in their prayer the safety and health of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte for tirelessly leading the country’s fight against COVID-19, and for continuously finding ways to extend all kinds of assistance to Filipinos in these trying times, such as the TUPAD Program of the DOLE.
The payment of their wages was facilitated by PESO Manager Designate Evelyn A. Lopes on August 11, 2020 at Macapagal Training Center, Governor Arsenio A. Provincial Government Center compound, Pigcarangan, municipality of Tubod. (PIO-LDN)
