CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: About 287 pairs of school shoes were distributed to children of Umayamnon community, an indigenous tribe in Bukidnon, during the 71st Founding Anniversary Celebration of the Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) here this week.
Maj. Francisco P. Garello, Jr. of the army’s public affairs division in Camp Evangelista here, said on Friday that the distribution of the school shoes were done on March 24, 2022 in Pigpamulahan Elementary School, in Barangay St Peter, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.
He said that the activity was the second in a series of distribution initiatives from May 20 – June 4, 2022 spearheaded b the DSWD-10 and a representative from SM Foundation Inc.
Garello said that the 4ID identified the beneficiaries through the Community Support Program (CSP) teams to address the needs of Elementary and High School students residing in the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) in Northern Mindanao region.
He said that the 4ID thru the 58IB already distributed a total of 499 pairs of shoes at Umagos Elementary School in Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental on May 20, 2022.
According to Garello, the SM Foundation Inc. as part of their corporate social responsibility, has donated a total of 3,811 pairs of school shoes thru the DSWD Field Office in Northern Mindanao. -0-
