CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY: Elite trackers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) continue their hot pursuit of the son who reportedly killed his father, a retired police officer in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, the police said Friday.
P/Maj. Renz Marion D. Serrano, the Villanueva town police chief, belied reports that Lorben Larot, 42, the suspect who hacked his father to death Wednesday morning surrendered.
Serrano said that retired police Major Lorenzo Larot, Sr. was reportedly hacked and stabbed to death by son Lorben in their house in Balacanas, Villanueva, Misamis Oriental Wednesday morning.
He said that the motive in the killing was traced to family conflict where the victim and his wife were locked in a legal controversy.
Serrano said the victim’s wife (police withheld the name) charged the victim with violation against women and children in court.
The victim was out on bail and has filed counter charges against his wife in court, Serrano said.
He said that the wife of the victim together with younger brother of the suspect, also a police officer, went to the Villanueva police station Wednesday to check on whether Lorben surrendered.
