This is the third explosion that happened in the province on the eve of the plebiscite in Lanao del Norte to decide the fate of the province's six municipalities to be included in the new Bangsamoro government.
At past 4pm today, an explosion ocurred in Barangay Maranding, the business center of Lala town while the another blast occured in Kauswagan town, minutes after.
Lala is 60 kilometers apart from Kauswagan while Sultan Naga Dimaporo is around 20 kilometers from Lala.
These three towns are not part of the six municipalities to be included in the Bangsamoro area.
Col. Alex Aduca, commander of the Joint Task Force Plebisito, said a small improvised explosive device (IED) was thrown by unidentified person, onboard a hauler truck, locally called “kumong-kumong", along the highway infront of a gasoline station while another IED exploded at the back of municipal hall in Kauswagan.
The explosive in Kauswagan, according to Aduca, was wrapped with a plastic, placed besides a dump truck.
No casualties has been reported in the three blasts.
The checkpoints has been intensified after the explosion.
"Hindi lang plain view ang inspection na ginagawa natin. We will check every vehicles na dumadaan," Aduca said.
