Third Force – A national movement for system change.
Atty. Homobono Adaza needs no lengthy introduction. By his nickname “Bono” alone, it already rings a bell, especially from where he came and made a name. For people who have parallel thinking like Bono, democracy is probably impractical, if not irrelevant in this country. Though our democracy is patterned with the United States, we seem to have over did it. And many became Amboys to the bones.
Today, we are spectators of two families fighting for supremacy, reducing national issues to mediocrity. This may have triggered the mind of Bono to entertain a Third Force.
Not that VP Sara is not qualified. I was among the rabid supporters of Sara being a member of the Maisug R10. Am I having second thought? You bet, I am.
Many in our group have shown much optimism on this May election. I don’t. For all we know, the election may have already been over. To put it bluntly, “luto na”, rigged. We are facing a formidable force with unlimited resources and power. Records show they got what they wanted, by hook or by crook. But for Conzuelo de Bobo, the election pushes through and the Duterte candidates won. They still won’t have the number, coupled with the risk of changing loyalty. It happened before and it will happen again and again.
Granting Sara escapes impeachment, then what? She is still a VP without power, with curtailed budget and a three year away president. Between now and then, many things could happen, including the realization of the Third Force.
Three years from now, where would be Tatay Digong? Speculation aside, he could be too weak to even stand at any “entablado” to campaign either for himself or Sara. Worse, many of the die-hards kuno may have already leave the coop.
The DDS and other groups of supporters have been drawn to a fight, advocacy and dream of a system change, or may have been led to believe that something is going to happen, or the time has come, that sorts of things, only to find that after such speculations, there was nothing but emptiness. All noise but no substance. For me, it’s unfair to these people who risk their lives, spend their own money and time, all for the Duterte family.
And here comes Bono with his Third Force. Who are they, Bono? Are you going to make us wait just as we waited for your Knight in shining armor?
System change is like asking for the moon. A system change can only be possible under a revolutionary government and my concept of a revgov is one that will go after the corrupt government officials in the past, put them behind bars, get back their unexplained or ill-gotten wealth, retrieved all land illegally acquired or through maneuvering. Can a Third Force do this?
I am not ashamed to repeat this. If only we have a Capt. Ibrahim Traore of Burkina Faso, then our problems will most probably be solved.
As for another Martial Law in the making, it’s not impossible, BBM will likely cling to power not just for himself but also for his family, the next generation. O ano, Pinoy, are you going to allow this to pass?
Addendum:
Early this morning (5:20a.m. of Feb.26, 2025), I came across Bono’s second part of Third Force – A national movement for system change. It is short of a revolution to me and just as I hope to see. Read and take note of it.
